Concrete pools
Unlike many other pool building trends, concrete has stood the test of time as the material of choice among homeowners and pool builders, and it’s easy to see why. It’s both extremely durable and highly customizable, and it lends itself well to additions such as steps, fountains, and more.
Because of these advantages, concrete enables you to create a pool that basically lasts forever and perfectly meets your needs and fits the shape of your backyard.
Vinyl liner pools
Vinyl liners are the budget-friendly option of the swimming pool world. However, the reduced upfront cost comes at a price: the vinyl liner has to be replaced every 5-9 years, which may result in higher long-term operating costs.
Also, there’s some risk of algae growth in areas of the pool that don’t get much water circulation, such as behind the light niches and on the plastic steps. Without regular maintenance, this can greatly reduce the water quality in a vinyl pool.
Fiberglass pools
These inground pools have the advantage of requiring very little maintenance. Its gelcoat surface is resistant to algae and has no effect on water chemistry. These pools are typically manufactured elsewhere and then installed directly at the site within a couple days.
However, fiberglass pools have two major disadvantages:
